My Return (from ban)

  • Mood: Triumph
I'm back from my ban. It's been two weeks. If you don't know why I was banned, see my previous journal entry--I was banned for posting that. Weird, huh?

It's been fun, these past two weeks, being unable to comment, fav, and add people to my devwatch. I've literally let pieces of artwork pile up in my inbox because I was saving them for commenting and faving once I was back. So now, my 761359813 pieces of work need to be seen to.

Oh, and to the 50+ people who added my photos to their favs and everything, I really appreciate it. I think I got more favs during my ban than I normally do. Thanks! Sorry I won't be getting around to personally thank you guys.

I'd LOVE a welcome back!

just commenting about ur previous journal entry..
I think there is a huge problem with the DD system currently in place. This problem is enabling people to feature works that lack any aspect of creativity and can not be called art. It seems like there is no longer a high standard when it comes to choosing work for featuring as DD and this has result to the abuse of DDs. Now people just feature their friends no matter how crappy their work is. And I guess it can be used for political or whatever other reasons.

Now, I am an Obama supporter, but I agree that picture has nothing in it worth featuring. From photographer point of view, there is nothing special about the exposure it self or the composition. Even the development/processing is poor. And this goes on to so many other work being featured. Another fine example is the picture featured today of two mutilated puff men naked and kissing. Where is the art in that photo? as a photograph its very very poor. As a pose its terrible... did they feature it because of their bodies? this is not a body building website.

I believe its time for deviants to start complaining about what is going on here with the DD system. This website used to feature some really fine art. It used to attract so many creative photographers. Now all I see on my front page when I come here is crappy work, perverts, and waste of time.

I know there are some sick people who will look at my gallery and say I am not an artist my self. My answer to them I am not an artist. I am not here to create art and pretend I am an artist. I come here because I love photography and I enjoy looking at people's creativity. Look at my favorites and you'll understand. This is precisely what sickens me from the amount of junk ending up on the DDs.

oh.. and welcome back =p

Yeah. I feel like I'm only one of I think 5 out of the millions of deviants who agree with you there.

I support you and believe your ban was 100% BS.

Thanks man!

I agree with the ban in principle. There is a rule against bitching about images being DD's. Personally, I think the white bar (flag pole?) growing out of his head was a rookie error, and ruined the shot. It didn't deserve a DD for that reason alone. There had to be better images they could have chosen. (I know you supported the other guy, I voted Paul in the primary and Barr in the Nov. Election. Our choices didn't win, the world moves on.)

Two admins said I didn't deserve the ban, but could not override it. And I would be just as upset with dA if it were any other politician.

Glad you're back and not too upset.

We seem to differ a lot politically, you're very conservative, and I'm an ignorant moderate (I'll admit that much)...

I'd pass judgment on the DD system but I really don't feel qualified to do so. Something I should look into.

Keep shooting, I really admire your work, and I'm envious that you're actually doing some occasional wedding photography. :giggle:...

Peace! Oh read my journal, tell me if I should or should not switch my minor to visual arts with a photography concentration! Please :D
