Shouldn't deviantART remain a politically neutral web site? This work of "art" has the artistic qualities of any black and white MySpace photo. Why the DD? Simply advertising more Barack Obama?

I chose that image because I like it. It's a fantastic shot and nothing to do with politics. Why would I want to advertise Obama? What's that got to do with me?

So if this was any old guy, in the same stance, same expression, same fitness level, same color of skin, it would be a DD as well?

----------
$chix0r said the following:

no, because I don't DD something which is a replica of something I have DD'ed before.

Now, I don't want to defame $chix0r or anything.. I'm just simply pointing out what's happening to our once beautiful little "art community."

I might be able to tolerate DD'ing an artsy political piece, but this is absolute heresy.

Thank you for sending me this link and I completely agree with you 100%. We should keep our political ideals out of the site. It should be a place where everyone democrat or otherwise will feel comfortable sharing their art. This has always been a friendly community, and dragging politics into it will cause hatreds among different factions.

It already has. :P

Really? I haven't seen to much hatred break out with the different political factions. I don't really come here for politics though. I honestly am taken back by the blatant Obama worship. If people think he is going to be any better than bush they will be disappointed. That, however, is not the point. People need to stop worrying about the president of AMERICA on a ART site that has members of SEVERAL different countries.

So we should sensor art, freedom of speech/expression, because a staff member of DeviantART DDed an artistic photograph of Barack Obama?

Now I know you're a staunch intolerant right wing minded individual but seriously? You lose your right (ironic I know) to not call this an artsy piece because your politically infuriated.

Don't get me wrong Brendan it's not like I'm attacking you, I don't want to do that, since we've known each other a while, but your just so politically polar that it can sometimes being too much.

This really is an unsolvable issue. No one is going to silence their voice and expression on an art site, but I also agree that people should have the decency and consideration to not bring up the tender topic of politics. I come to escape from that not be exposed to more of it. I can't even drive down my street without seeing something with Obama's face on it.
